Playing Sonic the Hedgehog Games Online
Did you grow up in the 1990s playing old school Sonic games? If you did, then get ready for a trip down memory lane. There are plenty of Sonic games that can be found online. Most, if not all, were created to run in Flash. The following Sonic games are just a sample of what's out there.
One of the most popular versions is the Ultimate Flash Sonic game. Despite not being developed by Sega, this game will bring back memories of your younger days. The graphics even have the 8-bit look of the Sega Genesis. You can play as Cream, Knuckles, Sonic, or Tails. The controls, being very simple, only rely on the arrow keys for movement and the spacebar to jump. You will reminisce about the original Sonic the Hedgehog as you traverse levels themed around forests, casinos, and the future. The classic bumpers, loops, spikes, and springs are all here as well.
Another great online Sonic the Hedgehog game is Super Smash Flash. This one is a lot like Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo 64. The game gives you the choice of Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles to begin with. It alternates between various level types. Some you have to complete as you race against time. Others replicate the fights in Super Smash Brothers as you take on popular Sonic characters. After defeating your enemy, they open up in the character menu screen allowing you to use them. Also, there are levels where you must destroy moving targets.
One more awesome game is Sonic Lost in Mario World, and it's just as it sounds too. Sonic jumps into a warp hole to another dimension and finds himself in the land of Mario. All the classic enemies are here. Turtles, crawling mushrooms, and flytraps that rise from green pipes. You collect coins and, believe it or not, you can throw mushrooms at unsuspecting enemies. The controls are easy to grasp as well. Scroll using the arrow keys, jump with A key, and hit the Z key to throw mushrooms. Combining the two greatest side-scrollers, Sonic and Mario, together was an amazing idea.
So if your looking for a great way to kill time, then you must check out Sonic the Hedgehog. Also, besides these three games, there are plenty of great twists on this classic character. Sonic games such as pinball, snowboarding, and trivia are available and fun to play.
